Five tunes that impacted my younger days

1. My Dear Elaine - Roy Wood
1973, 16, first semi-girlfriend dumps me, I fill my head wit this song for days, still makes me feel sad even after all these years...

2. Echoes - Pink Floyd
My one and only homosexual experience, was like playing with myself but not as much fun, boy did this song kill the mood. That'll teach me to get drunk and smoke pot...

3. Heartbreak Hotel - John Cale
A mate plays you a song and life is never the same again - so crunchy, so slow, so, so magnificent. Here's a video where deconstruction becomes haunting. Also Shock Headed Peters did an even crunchier version of Cale's version in the 80's.

4. Black Mass, An Electric Storm In Hell - White Noise
LSD and this record is like living in a ghost story - scared the pants off me, made me realize that music can be dark dark dark and scary.... Julian Cope has the details.

5. Lipstick Vogue - Elvis Costello
Spitting and snarling, EC came into my life with his second album, This Years Model, and this tune made me bounce around the room like a scalded cat.... tracked down the CD last year, and hey! it still makes me bounce.

I hate lists.....so here's some lists.
